LYB is open to all 1st-6th grade students. Our goal is to introduce kids to the game for the first time and develop them as players. USA basketball notes that the stages of skill development start with learning skills, then developing them to a point where they can be used in games, and then excelling at them in a team environment. We at LYB believe fundamentals and overall basketball IQ are very important in this game and that is why we are here. We use our resources and tools to teach kids the fundamentals, get them game experience and increase their overall knowledge of the game. Our season is December-February. We will have skills & drills on Sunday afternoons. These are designed to work on player's individual skills, and we will practice our halftime routine during this time as well. We will showcase our skills during a Llano HS game in Feb. Team practices typically start in December. Games are on Saturdays Jan-Feb for 3rd-6th grade. We will have some home games and also out of town games. Games are on Thursdays Jan-Feb for 1st/2nd grade division. We play amongst ourselves and do not travel out of town in this division. Specific times and dates are announced later when those are finalized. We are looking forward to another great season!
